As a prosthodontist, my satisfaction comes from seeing the positive changes that I make in my patients’ lives. While I enjoy the challenge of restoring and replacing teeth, it is my patients’ newfound confidence and beaming smile that are truly rewarding.
The American College of Prosthodontists published my case report, "Creating Smiles and Changing Lives" in the quarterly ACP Messenger. In the article, I describe the treatment planning process and execution of complex care for a challenging prosthetic case. My article highlights the use of digital dentistry for planning and the use of dental implants for both single-tooth and full-arch tooth replacements. With the growing number of implants being placed, I felt we needed a more complete understanding of the interaction between implants and their prosthetic components. My research model and methodology was innovative because of the ability to incorporate both mechanical and corrosive degradation, and the results create a shift in the way we think about zirconia abutments.
